A house fire is over in an hour. The night that follows is not. Fire Angels of Hall County meets displaced families at the curb with clothes, toiletries, a warm place to sleep, and boarding for their pets — then boards up the house before we leave, so no one can get in while they're gone.
How a call goes
Fires don't keep business hours, so neither do we. Here's what happens from the moment the phone rings.

Water, blankets, and a plan for the night. No paperwork first, no waiting list, no questions about what you can afford.

A hotel room or host home for the family, and a boarding spot for dogs, cats, and other animals so nobody gets left behind.

Our crew covers the open windows and doors with plywood, free of charge, so the house isn't standing open while you're away.
About us
Fire Angels of Hall County is a volunteer organization serving Gainesville and the rest of Hall County, Georgia. We started because the gap after a house fire is real: the engines leave, the street empties out, and a family is standing in a driveway at two in the morning with nowhere to go and nothing but what they're wearing.
We fill that gap the same night — supplies, shelter, and a secured home — and we never send a bill. Everything we do is paid for by donations from people who live here.
We help first and sort out the details later. No income test, no proof of loss, no waiting list.
We don't invoice families and we don't bill insurance for the work we do.
Our volunteers live in Hall County. When we show up, it's a neighbor at the door.
No one should have to choose between a bed for the night and keeping their animals.
Our services
Most families leave a fire with what they're wearing. These are the things we put in their hands the same night.
Shirts, pants, shoes, coats, and underwear in the right sizes for every person in the household, including children.
Soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, feminine products, diapers, and formula.
A hotel room or a host home arranged for the night, with help extending the stay while longer-term housing comes together.
Boarding, crates, food, and bowls for dogs, cats, and other animals. Families should never have to choose between shelter and their pets.
Plywood over the openings within a day, at no charge, so the house isn't left open to weather, trespassers, or theft.
A hand with the calls that follow: insurance, replacing documents, and connecting to other agencies in Hall County.
Our board-up crew
When a family is displaced, the fire is only the first loss. A burned house with open windows and a broken-down door sits unguarded for days or weeks — and what the fire didn't take, someone else often does.
Plywood over the windows, doors, and any opening the fire or the fire department left behind.
Nothing is touched until the scene is released and the property owner gives the go-ahead.
Boarding limits rain and animal damage to whatever the family may still be able to salvage.

No. Supplies, lodging, pet boarding, and the board-up are all free. We don't invoice families, we don't bill your insurance, and we don't ask you to pay us back later.
We aim to have a volunteer on scene within an hour of the call, anywhere in Hall County, at any time of day or night. The board-up usually happens within 24 hours, once the scene is released.

We arrange boarding, crates, food, and bowls for dogs, cats, and other animals. Nobody should have to leave an animal behind to get a bed for the night.
Yes, but we need the property owner's go-ahead first, and the scene has to be released by the fire marshal. Call us and we'll help make those contacts.
Securing a damaged property is normally expected of a homeowner after a loss. We photograph the house before and after so you have a record. Check with your adjuster about your specific policy — we're not insurance professionals.
